In the Spotlight: Paris

A little snippet in relation to the history of the Hash House Harriers.

The first recorded hash club in France was the Paris H3 founded by Don "Polka Dot Trousers" (a.k.a Don On-On) Creed, and the first run was held on 29 June 1981. Over the successive years there have been as many as 15 more clubs pop up and fade away. I was lucky enough to run with the Paris H3 a few times, the last one being their 800th run celebration back in Feb 2012. One of the funny things about that weekend was, after an excellent 14 Km shiggy trail on the Saturday, we lined up in city center on Sunday for run #801 hangover trail, which was 16 Kms long and all over central Paris, including running right through the Louvre. Great times were had by all. OK, getting back to the Paris H3 . . . As everyone knows, Paris is the capital city of France, and spans the Seine River, and is noted for Champagne and other fine wines, the Eiffel Tower and many other beautiful sites. My friend MaBouche, now back in Paris, recently forwarded to me a snippet from Rudyard Kipling as he wrote in his book "Souvenirs of France" printed in 1933, which records his experience in Paris from the spring of 1878.
